I didn't see this until now and I'm sleepy to bear with me if this doesn't make any sense.
But Joe, like in the meme thread, does actually wonder if Ryuunosuke just doesn't remember any of his initial conversations with him back in 2011. He does feel like his words and feelings have gotten washed away in a tide. It feels like nothing positive he's done has benefited anything. Ryuunosuke was apprehensive of him and with all the time taken, Joe's grown to show the same animosity back.
Joe also have opinions about Takeru's relationship, but he's lately decided to keep them to himself because humans are awkward about their intimate relations. It's admittedly the first relationship he's ever gotten to witness and there are many aspects of it he doesn't like and other aspects he doesn't understand, but those issues are his own.
He does honestly think, or have thought in the past, that Ryuunosuke would or could be some some of positive influence in his life. Ryuunosuke is smart, trustworthy and a good fighter. Even if Joe is very selective about the things he cares enough to bother learning, he thinks, or thought, that he could learn from him ... but then all of this happened and those expectations moved to Takeru instead.
